Effingham High School jumped out to a 14-0 softball lead on Vandalia and ended this contest in four innings, 25-0 Tuesday.

The Hearts' Natalie Armstrong went two innings, allowing one hit while striking out five for the win on the mound. Saige Althoff pitched two innings, allowing no hits and striking out three.

EHS finished with 16 hits led by Jerzi Bierman with a single, triple, home run and four RBI, Ryley Engel with two singles, a triple and five RBI, Sidney Donaldson with a home run and three RBI, Bria Beals with two singles and two RBI, N. Armstrong with a single, double and two RBI and Mya Harvey with a single, double and an RBI.

At Effingham

At Olney

St. Anthony and Richland County were tied at 1-1 after the first inning, but the Bulldogs cut loose with eight runs in the second and finished the contest in the fifth, 16-3 Tuesday.

The Bulldogs had a five-run fourth. St. Anthony finished with 14 hits and was aided by four Richland errors and four walks.

Laney Coffin led the way at the plate with a single, double, home run and four RBI. Hailey Niebrugge hit a home run and finished with four RBI. Sydney Kibler and Maddie Kibler had a single and double each. M. Kibler added two RBI. Ady Rios had two singles and four RBI. Lily Gannaway finished with two singles.

Addie Wernsing threw a three-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts.

Dieterich's Brittney Niemerg threw a no-hitter as the Maroons blanked Neoga, 12-0 in five innings Tuesday.

Niemerg went the five innings, allowing no runs, no hits, one walk while striking out eight.

The Movin' Maroons, meanwhile, had 10 hits led by Marli Michl with a double, home run and two RBI, Kinley Will hit a home run and had two RBI. E. Meinhart had a double, triple and two RBI and E. Meinhart a single and three RBI. Kinli Michl added a double and an RBI.

South Central pounded Webber Township (Bluford) to the tune of 15-0 in four innings Tuesday.

The Cougars edged out to a 4-0 first inning lead, tacked on three in the second, six in the third and two in the fourth.

Lauren Johnson and Bri Buchanan hit a home run each. Buchanan finished with two RBI while Johnson added a single and ended with five RBI. Abi Shuler added a single, double and two RBI, Kaitlyn Swift a single, triple and three RBI, Emily Rose two singles and an RBI and Kinlee Thompson two singles.

Johnson went four innings on the mound, allowing two hits while striking out six and not giving up a walk.

At Farina

Teutopolis pounded out 15 hits, was aided by eight Ramsey errors and drew seven walks in an 18-3 victory in five innings Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes pushed into a 6-0 opening inning lead, tacked on three in the second, two in the third and finished the contest with seven in the fifth.

Malea Helmink hit solo home run for the Shoes. Olivia Hemmen added a single, double and drove in three runs. Jersey Gaddis and Chloe Hoene added a triple and an RBI each. Olivia Copple had three singles while Ceclia Apke added two singles. Kayleigh Zerrusen and Mallory Bloemer had a single and two RBI each. Alyssa Tipton and Korynn Westendorf finished with a single and an RBI each.

Helmink was the winner on the mound. She went three inings, allowing two runs on one hit, two walks while striking out six. Hemmen came in to finish out the last two innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out two.

At Ramsey

At Altamont

Altamont went only three innings in taking a 15-0 victory over North Clay (Louisville) Tuesday.

The Indians pushed into an 8-0 opening inning lead, tacked on three in the second and four in the third.

Altamont had eight hits led by Brianna Grunloh with two singles and two RBI and Kylie Osteen with two singles and an RBI and Peyton Osteen, Sophia Pearcy and Kennedi Schultz with a single and an RBI each. Claire Boehm added a single and drove in two runs.

Grace Lemke went three innings, striking out eight and walking only one for the pitching victory.

North Clay finished with seven errors in the contest. The Cardinals fall to 0-1 in the National Trail Conference and 1-2 overall.

At Altamont

At Pana

Pana played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and sent the Bobcats home with a 16-5 loss in five innings Tuesday.

The two teams were tied at 2-2 through the first three innings. CHBC took a 5-0 lead in the top of the fourth. However Pana came roaring back with a 14-run bottom of the frame to end the game.

Both teams had nine hits but CHBC finished with six errors.

Ryleigh Sarver had three singles for the Bobcats while Lena Bowlin had a single and double. Addison Wasson had a single and two RBI while Birgen Schlanser had a single and an RBI.
