Jasper County Claims Third Place At State Softball

NORMAL -- Jasper County blanked Beardstown in the third place game at the IESA Class 2A State Softball Tournament Monday by an 8-0 count.

The two teams went scoreless through the first three innings before Jasper County moved ahead with two runs in the fourth. Jasper County then added on three in the fifth and three in the sixth.

The Eagles had 10 hits led by Paige Wagner with three singles and two RBI, Jorjia Reich with a single and triple, Jacee Dhom with two singles and two RBI and Kreagan Groves with a double and two RBI. Lexie Ghast added a single and an RBI and Emma Brooks had an RBI.

Ghast picked up the pitching win, going all seven innings, allowing no runs, five hits, one walk and striking out five.

The winners finish the season with a 17-1 record while Beardstown ended with a 19-3 mark.

In the championship contest, Beecher downed Metamora, 4-1. Beecher finished the season at 26-2 and Metamora was 6-19.
