STRASBURG -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg held a 5-2 lead after three innings and went on for a 6-3 victory over Effingham St. Anthony in junior high softball Tuesday.

WSS outhit the Bullpups by an 8-5 count while two pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts in the contest.

St. Anthony was led in hitting by Mallory Litz and Emeline Wines with a double and an RBI each and Claire Kinkelaar with a double. Sylvie Schumacher added a single and an RBI.

WSS had eight hits in the contest but only numbers were listed on the scoresheet.

At Strasburg

At Effingham

Effingham stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead on Vandalia and went on for a 12-2 victory in six innings Tuesday.

The Mustangs had five hits and were aided by five Vandalia errors along with drawing seven walks.

Keagyn Koenig had a single, triple and two RBI while Madi Summers added a single and two RBI. Molly Maxedon had a single and an RBI and Seatyn Althoff finished with two RBI.

Elizabeth Kreke threw a four-hitter with one walk while striking out five.

At Effingham

At Dieterich

Neoga came calling and captured an 11-10 victory in eight innings over Dieterich Tuesday.

Dieterich held a 5-2 lead after four innings but Neoga came back to tally four runs in the fifth to move ahead 6-5. Neoga pushed that to 7-5 in the top of the seventh but Dieterich came roaring back to knot the score at 7-7, sending the game into the eighth.

In the eighth inning Neoga scored four runs to move ahead 11-7. Dieterich attempted a comeback in the bottom of the frame with three runs only to fall short.

Neoga had eight hits led by Hannah Propst with a single and triple, Madelynn Frankie with a single, double and an RBI, Maleah Coy with two singles and two RBI and Reyna Coy and Chloe Frankie with a single and an RBI each.

Propst picked up the win, allowing 13 hits but walking only one and striking out 13.

Dieterich was led by Allison Boerngen with two singles, a triple and an RBI, Kensi Stortzum with four singles, Maria Muhs with a single and two RBI and Payton Higgins with a single and an RBI.

Boerngen went 7.2 innings, giving up eight hits, five walks but striking out 10 in the loss.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis edged out to a 4-3 first inning lead but Altamont moved ahead with two runs in the third. T-town came back with two in the fifth to lead 6-5. Altamont then broke loose with a six-run sixth and pounded out 10 runs in the seventh for a 21-7 victory.

Altamont had 14 hits and was aided by six Wooden Shoes errors.

Ada Roberts was the leader offensively with four singles, a double and three RBI for Altamont. Rebecca Swank had a home run and four RBI. Teegan Burrus had a double and two RBI, Adilyn Schnarre with two singles and four RBI, Sophia Long and Alyssa Ruholl with two singles and two RBI each and Jocelyn Pearcy with two RBI.

T-town was led by Taylor McMahon with three singles, Reagan Slater with two singles and two RBI, Addlyn Calkins and Summer Vahling with two singles each and Abby Kocher with two RBI.

Jasper County handled Martinsville to the tune of 15-1 in four innings Tuesday.

The winners took a 4-0 first inning lead, tallied three in the second and finished with eight in the third.

The Eagles had nine hits led by Paige Wagner and Jacee Dhom with two singles and two RBI each, Georgia REich with two singles and an RBI, Maleah MIller with  double and an RBI and Emma brooks with a single and two RBI.

Miller went three innings for the win on the mound. She gave up one run on four hits, three walks and struck out four.

At Newton

South Central pushed into a 4-0 first inning lead and went on to tally a 9-3 win over Flora Floyd Henson Tuesday.

The Falcons had six hits led by Kyndi Bolen with a single, double and an RBI and Maddie Peddicord and Baylee Brown with a triple and two RBI each.

Addy Ruholl picked up the pitching win, going all seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits, three walks and striking out five.

Floyd Henson finished with six errors and gave up nine walks.

Matttoon outlasted Cumberland, 12-11 in eight innings Tuesday.

Cumberland held a 5-2 lead after two innings but the two teams were tied at 8-8 after four innings. Mattoon moved ahead with three in the sixth but here came Cumberland to tie the score, sending the contest into the eighth where Mattoon won.

Cumberland had 10 hits. Kinley McMechan had three singles, Jude Miller a single, double and two RBI and Baya Carter a single, double and three RBI. Avery Millsap added a single and two RBI.
