SATURDAY GAMES

COWDEN -- Robinson captured the championship of the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Softball Tournament.

In the opening contest, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City pounded Mulberry Grove by a 22-9 count in three innings.

CHBC moved ahead 8-2 in the first inning then had a 10-run second and scored four more in the third.

CHBC had only two hits, singles by Jordyn Wright and Jayla Arnett. Both hitters had two RBI each. The winners finished with nine RBI and drew 16 walks in the contest.

In the second game, Robinson trounced St. Elmo/Brownstown, 16-0 in three innings. Robinson finished with 17 hits and had a 12-run second inning.

Mulberry Grove was an 8-1 winner over St. Elmo/Brownstown in game three. SEB outhit Mulberry Grove by an 8-5 count but tallied only one run in the fourth.

Robinson then blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 16-0 in three innings. Robinson ripped out to a 13-0 opening inning lead and finished with 14 hits.

Myers threw a no-hitter and CHBC committed seven errors.

In game five, Robinson was an 18-0 winner over Mulberry Grove. Robinson had an 11-0 opening inning lead and scored seven more in the second.

The winners had eight hits.

St. Elmo/Brownstown then defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 9-6 in the final game. SEB held a 7-3 lead in the first and tallied two more in the third.

SEB had five hits led by White with a double. Orr had a single and two RBI and Wollin a single and an RBI.

CHBC was led by Brylie Prater with a single, triple and three RBI and Harper Lilly with a double and two RBI.

At Kinmundy

South Central stepped out to the early lead and went on to beat Tri-County 13-1 in four innings Saturday.

The Falcons scored three runs in the first, two in the second and finished out with eight in the third.

Maddie Peddicord went one inning on the mound, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out two.

Peddicord also helped offensively with two singles, a double and four RBI. Baylee Brown had a single, double and an RBI while Kyndi Bolen and Kennah Hiestand had two singles and an RBI each.

Casey-Westfield then edged South Central, 3-2.

South Central held a 1-0 lead before Casey-Westifeld tied in the third. South Central moved ahead in the top of the sixth but Casey-Westfield came right back in the bottom of the frame to knot the score then won it in the bottom of the seventh.

South Central had seven hits led by Peddicord with three doubles and Brown with two singles and two RBI.
