FRIDAY GAMES

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Charleston and fell to the visitors by a 9-3 count in softball action.

The Bullpups held a 1-0 lead until the third when Charleston tied. St. Anthony regained the lead with two runs in the bottom of the frame. But Charleston came back in the fifth with five runs and three more in the sixth.

Both teams had seven hits. St. Anthony was led by Claire Kinkelaar with a triple and an RBI, Peyton Clark and Emeline Wines with two singles each and Mallory Litz with a single and an RBI.

The Bullpups committed five errors.

At Neoga

Neoga was outhit by a 10-5 count but ended up tallying an 11-5 win over South Central.

Neoga ran out to an 8-1 first inning lead and that was the game as the homestanders improved to 2-1 in the National Trail Conference and 4-1 overall.

Kenly Westendorf led Neoga with two singles and an RBI while Keeli McKay had a single and two RBI. Chloe Frankie added a single and an RBI and Madelynn Frankie had an RBI.

South Central was led by Annie Ruholl with a single and triple, Maddie Peddicord with two singles and an RBI and Baylee Brown and Claire Chasteen with a single and an RBI each.

Neoga's Hannah Probst was the winner on the mound, allowing five runs on 10 hits, one walk and striking out eight.

Dieterich got on the board in the first inning with 11 runs and downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 13-1 in four innings.

Dieterich's Boerngen and Stortzum combined to throw a no-hitter.

Meanwhile, the Roadrunners had eight hits led by Faller and Garner with a single, double and three RBI each, Boerngen with a double and an RBI and Wohltman with a double.

At Cowden

At Toledo

Cumberland pulled out an exciting victory over Marshall in Friday action.

Cumberland held a 5-0 lead after two innings and led 6-3 after three. Cumberland tallied three more in the fourth to lead 9-3. But Marshall started a comeback with five runs in the fifth, tacked on a run in the sixth and tied the score in the top of the seventh with two runs.

Then came the exciting finish for Cumberland. Jude Miller reached base on an error. Lauren Schnepper grounded out, advancing Miller to second. Ava Long came to the plate, hitting a hard ground ball to short but the shortstop bobbled the ball and Miller scored for win the game.

Kinley McMechan had a single and double while Long had a double and two RBI. Avery Millsap added two RBI. Schnepper had a single and two RBI and Miller a single and an RBI.

At Toledo
