CHBC Beats Ramsey, Area Softball Roundup

RAMSEY -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was the lone area softball team that picked up a victory Tuesday.

The Bobcats handed Ramsey a 12-6 loss behind a 10-hit attack and five Ramsey errors.

Ramsey held a 5-3 opening inning lead but CHBC moved ahead with three in the third, tallied four in the fourth and single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Addison Wasson went three innings for the pitcher's win, allowing five runs on five hits, three walks and five strikeouts.

CHBC banged out 10 hits led by Madison Wojcik with three singles, Macee Rodman and Koda Colman with a single, double and an RBI each, Averie Vaughn with a double and an RBI, Addison Wasson with a single and an RBI and Adelyn Musson with two RBI.

At Effingham

Breese Mater Dei came to Effingham and edged the Hearts by a 5-4 count Tuesday.

Effingham took a 3-0 lead in the third inning and led 4-1 after six. But Mater Dei tied the score in the seventh with three runs and put a W up with a run in the eighth.

Mater Dei outhit the Hearts by one, 10-9. EHS was led by Riley Cunningham and Mya Harvey with a single, double and an RBI each. Abby Cunningham added a double and an RBI while Jennifer Jamison had a double. Sidney Donaldson added a single and an RBI.

At Mattoon

Mattoon outlasted Teutopolis in a big scoring contest Monday, 18-17.

The Green Wave took a 1-0 first inning lead and led 6-3 after two and 11-6 after three. Mattoon led 14-6 going into the sixth when T-town rallied with five runs and pulled ahead 17-16 in the top of the seventh. But Mattoon came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame to pull out the victory.

The Wooden Shoes outhit Mattoon by a 21-19 count. Malea Helmink led the way with three singles, a home run and four RBI while Kaylee Niebrugge had two singles, a home run and three RBI. Olivia Copple added a single, double and two RBI and Summer Wall three singles and three RBI. Emily Konkel also had three singles and drove in two runs. Danielle Sarchet and Alyssa Tipton had two singles each.

Mulberry Grove had a three-run third inning and went on for a 4-1 victory over Altamont Tuesday.

The Aces had seven hits in the contest.

Altamont finished with three hits, all singles by Claire Boehm, Skylie Klein and Madison Tonn.

Despite garnering 10 strikeouts, Grace Lemke suffered the loss on the mound, allowing four runs on seven hits with three walks.

L. Johnson was the winning pitcher for the Aces with three hits, one walk while striking out 14.
