Natalie Armstrong was instrumental in the victory, going all 12 innings on the mound, allowing five runs on six hits, no walks while striking out 16.
The Hearts took a 1-0 lead in the first, tacked on single runs in the second and third to lead 3-2. Marshall came back to move ahead 4-3 in the sixth. EHS then rallied to tie the score at 4-4 sending the contest into extra innings.
Both teams scored a run in the eighth and then went four more innings before the Hearts pulled it out.
EHS had 11 hits and was aided by six Marshall errors.
Kristen Armstrong led the way for EHS with two doubles and an RBI. Abby Cunningham tallied three singles and an RBI while Sidney Donaldson and Bria Beals added two singles and an RBI each. Jennifer Jamison had a single and an RBI and Madi Kirk an RBI.

At Flora
Effingham St. Anthony fell to host Flora by a 7-2 count Thursday.
The Wolves edged ahead 1-0 in the second and never looked back in the win.
Flora had 10 hits, two home runs and four doubles.
St. Anthony had six hits led by Ady Rios with a single and double and Lilly Gannaway with a single and an RBI.
H. Kitley was the winner for Flora, throwing all seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, one walk while striking out seven.

Teutopolis traveled to Vandalia and came home with a 10-2 victory Thursday.
The Wooden Shoes banged out 11 hits in contest while Courtney Gibson kept the Vandals from getting in gear offensively. She threw all seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits, one walk while striking out three.
The Shoes held a 1-0 lead in the second and led 4-2 in the fourth and tallied four in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Olivia Copple had a single, triple and two RBI while Malea Helmink added a single, double and an RBI. Emily Konekl had two singles and an RBI, Estella Mette two singles and Olivia Hemmen a single and two RBI.

At Villa Grove
It took eight innings, but Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a 12-10 win over Villa Grove Thursday.
Villa Grove stepped out to a 3-1 opening inning lead and led 5-2 after two. The Hatchets came back with one in the third but Villa Grove replied with two in the fourth to lead 7-3.
But that didn't stop WSS. The Hatchets tallied four runs in the fifth to tie the score. Both teams then scored two in the sixth for a 9-9 tie.
The game went into the eighth when Windsor/Stew-Stras had a 3-1 run for the victory.
Both teams registered 34 hits. Villa Grove had a slight 18-16 edge.
Sam Hayes led the Hatchets with two singles, two doubles and two RBI while Ava Richards had a double, home run and two RBI. Ella Kinkelaar added a single, double, triple and an RBI while Kaylyn Carey had a double and an RBI and Sam Porter and Alaira Friese had two singles and two RBI each.
Hayes picked up the pitching win, going all eight innings, allowing 10 runs on 18 hits, one walk and striking out four.

South Central easily downed Okaw Valley by a 14-2 score in six innings Thursday.
The Cougars' Taegan Webster threw a one-hitter, with only one walk while striking out 11.
Meanwhile, the Cougars' offense was in gear as Webster had a single, double, home run and six RBI. Brookyn Garrett two singles, a home run and three RBI, Kaitlyn Swift a single, double and two RBI and Jaylyn Michel and Amelia Montes a single, double and an RBI each.
South Central improved to 3-1 on the season.

Dieterich took the early lead and went on for a 5-1 win over Martinsville Thursday.
The Movn' Maroons led 1-0 in the second then tacked on two in the third and single runs in the fourth and sixth.
Dieterich had 11 hits in the game led by Brittney Niemerg with two singles and a double and Ruby Westendorf with two singles and an RBI.
Niemerg went the distance on the mound, allowing one run on three hits, one walk while striking out 13 batters.

Morgan Hance had 15 strikeouts in the five innings and allowed one hit and two walks.
Hance also aided the winners offensively with two solo home runs and two RBI. Chelsea Beck had a double and three RBI while Carolyn Hurd had two singles and three RBI.
The Cardinals improved to 3-1 in the Midland Trail Conference and 4-1 overall.
