KINMUNDY -- Effingham St. Anthony came calling at South Central and tallied a 13-2 win over the Cougars in five innings in softball action Wednesday.

The two teams went scoreless through the first two innings before the Bulldogs moved ahead 2-0 in the third. St. Anthony then tallied seven in the fourth and finished the contest with four in the fifth.

The Bulldogs had 14 hits in the game led by Abbie Hatton and Sydney Kibler with a home run and two RBI each, Cameran Rios with a double, triple and two RBI, Addie Wernsing and Hailey Niebrugge with two singles and two RBI each. Laney Coffin had a double and Kallie Kabbes a single and an RBI.

Lucy  Fearday went all five innings on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits, two walks and striking out five.

South Central was led by Abi Shuler with a double and Kaitlyn Swift and Jaylyn Michel had a single and an RBI each.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg came through with a five-run sixth inning and finished with a 6-4 victory over Macon Meridian Wednesday.

Meridian edged ahead 1-0 in the first inning but the Hatchets tied in the second.

Meridian then took a 2-1 lead in the fifth and held it until the sixth when Windsor/Stew-Stras broke loose with six runs.

Meridian came back with two in the top of the seventh only to fall short.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had six hits led by Ellie Wittenberg with a single, doubel and three RBI and Katelyn VonBehrens with a double and two RBI.

Sam Hayes picked up the pitching victory going all seven innings allowing four runs on seven hits, three walks while striking out 13.

At Effingham

In a junior varsity contest, Effingham handed Effingham St. Anthony a 10-3 loss Wednesday.

The Hearts banged out 16 hits in the game led by Alyssa Martin with a single, triple and three RBI, Natalie Armstrong with a single, double and three RBI, Bria Beals with two singles, a double and an RBI, Ryley Engel with a single, double and an RBI; Kristin Armstrong with a single and double; Cora Hartmann with two singles and an RBI and Madi Kirk with two singles.

Beals threw a six-hitter over seven innings with one walk and six strikeouts.

St .Anthony had six hits led by Lilly Gannaway and Kabbes with two singles each and Ava Walton with a single and an RBI.
