St. Anthony, Altamont Nab Softball Victories

Effingham St. Anthony had a big second inning to hand South Central a 17-0 softball loss Wednesday.

The two teams were scoreless in the first inning before the Bulldogs broke loose with a 15-run second inning. St. Anthony tacked on two more in the third.

The Bulldogs had 14 hits led by Cameran Rios with a single, double, triple and five RBI and Addie Wernsing with two singles, a double and an RBI. Abbie Hatton had a home run and three RBI. Madeline Kibler had a triple and drove in three runs while Sydney Kibler had a double and an RBI. Haley Niebrugge chipped in with two singles.

Lucy Fearday went all four innings allowing no runs on two hits while striking out six. The Bulldogs are now 14-2 on the season.

The lone hits for the Cougars were Taegan Webster and Brooklyn Garrett with a single each. South Central drops to 13-7 overall and 4-2 in the National Trail Conference.

At Altamont

Altamont trailed Neoga 3-2 after three innings but had two-run innings in the fourth and fifth for a 6-4 win Wednesday.

Neoga had a three-run third to move into the lead and tallied its final run in the seventh.

Altamont had seven hits led by Lanie Tedrick with two singles and an RBI and Claire Boehm with a single and an RBI.

Bailey Teasley picked up the win in the mound, going all seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits, two walks while keeping Neoga off balance with 13 strikeouts.

Neoga was led by Haylee Campbell with two singles and Trista Moore with a single and an RBI.

At Clay City

North Clay/Clay City lost a Midland Trail Conference game to Odin Wednesday by an 11-1 count in five innings.

Morgan Hance led North Clay/Clay City with two singles, scored a run and stole a base. Kirstin Allen had an RBI double while Leath Cartright had a single.

North Clay/Clay Cty is now 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the MTC. The Wolves return to action today hosting Woodlawn.
