Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg held a 3-0 lead after three innings but Effingham St. Anthony tied the high school softball game in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Bulldogs then won the contest 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth.

The Hatchets outhit St. Anthony by a 6-4 count but ended up with three errors.

Abbi Hatton nailed an inside the park home run for St. Anthony that was the winner in the eighth. Cameran Rios had two singles, Addie Wernsing had an RBI and Grace Karolewicz a single.

Lucy Fearday threw the six-hitter, allowing one walk while striking out five.

Ava Richards had a double and drove in two runs for Windsor/Stew-Stras while Ella Kinkelaar had two singles. Sam Hayes added a single and an RBI while Karlie Bean and Natalie Hayes had a single each.

Bean picked up the loss on the mound going all eight innings allowing four runs on four hits, six walks while striking out six.

At St. Anthony

At Neoga

South Central came calling and picked up a 19-6 win in six innings over Neoga Thursday.

The Cougars held a 4-1 opening inning lead then pushed that to 7-3 in the second.  South Central scored five more in the fourth, one in the fifth and six in the sixth.

South Central bats banged out 20 hits in the contest. Brooklyn Garrett led the way for the Cougars with four singles, a double and three RBI. Ella Watwood added three singles, a double and three RBI. Laney Webster added three singles and an RBI while Lily Malone had a single, double and three RBI. Kaitlyn Swift had two singles.

Watwood went the distance allowing nine hits, one walk and striking out one for the winner on the mound.

Neoga was led by Haylee Campbell with a single, double and three RBI, Trista Moore with a single and triple, Andrea Burcham with a double and two RBI and Caitlyn Sparling with two singles..

South Central is now 4-1 in the National Trail Conference, 12-5 overall. The Cougars are back in action today against  Altamont.

At Lawrenceville

Newton took a 1-0 first inning lead and went on to blank Lawrenceville by a 10-0 count Thursday.

The Eagles had a 14-hit attack while Kayla "Kocher" Kocher went five innings allowing no runs on two hits, one walk and five strikeouts. Amelia Collins came on to finish out the final inning allowing one walk while striking out two.

Newton edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead before tacking on three in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and finishing the game with three in the sixth.

Addy O'Dell had three singles, a triple and two RBI while Ava Kessler had a single and a solo home run. Amber Russell finished with three singles while Bailee Frichtl added two singles and an RBI. Avery Mulvey added a double and an RBI. Camryn Martin finished with two RBI and Emma Kidwell added a single and an RBI.
