S. Central Wins In Softball, Altamont, WSS Fall

KINMUNDY -- South Central High School's Taegan Webster threw a one-hitter as the Cougars blanked Ramsey, 15-0 in four softball innings Wednesday.

South Central ran off to a 9-0 first inning lead and ended the game in the fourth.

The Cougars pounded out 16 hits in the contest. T. Webster helped offensively with three singles and two RBI. Kaitlyn Swift had two singles, a double and an RBI. Brooklyn Garrett chipped in with a double, triple and four RBI. Abi Shuler and Kyra Swift had a single, double and an RBI each. Jaylyn Michel added a single and double.

South Central improved to 11-5 on the season and returns to action today at Neoga.

At Altamont

Olney came calling and handed Altamont a 13-3 loss in five innings Wednesday.

The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the second inning but Olney scored five in the top of the third. Altamont pulled within 5-3 in the bottom of the third but the Tigers put together two more runs in the fourth and ended the game with six more in the fifth.

Altamont had five hits but ended up with six errors.

Grace Lemke had a double for Altamont while Claire Boehm added two singles.

Charleston stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and went on to end the contest in the fifth, 14-4 Wednesday.

The Trojans had 16 hits in the game led by Erin Blair with a single, home run and four RBI.

The Hatchets had eight hits led by Ava Richards with single, double and an RBI, Maddy Pfeiffer and Ella Kinkelaar with two singles and an RBI each. Karlie Bean added a double and an RBI.
