Bulldogs, Eagles, Hatchets Nab Softball Victories

Effingham St. Anthony continued its hot streak from the weekend by bouncing Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 16-0 in high school softball action Monday.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had an eight-run second, a two-run third and ended the game in the fourth with four runs.

Sydney Kibler was the winner on the mound, going two innings allowing one hit, one walk and striking out five. Stacie Vonderheide came on to finish out the final two innings, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and one strikeout.

The Bulldogs had nine hits led by Laney Coffin with two singles and two RBI, Anna Faber with a double and three RBI, Grace Karolewicz with a single, double and an RBI and Haley Niebrugge with a double and an RBI. Kenzie Kabbes added a single and drove in a run.

The Bobcats one hit was a single by Addison Wasson.

At Cowden

At Effingham

Effingham took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning but Newton came back to tie the score in the sixth and win the contest by a 3-2 count in the seventh Monday.

The Eagles had eight hits led by Bailee Fritchl with a single, double and an RBI, Allie Stanley with a double and an RBI and Kayla Kocher two singles and an RBI.

Effingham was led by Riley Cunningham with a solo home run and Sidney Donaldson with a single, double and an RBI.

Kocher was the winner on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits, three walks and four strikeouts in seven innings.

At Efifngham

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg played host to South Central and finished the game in the fifth inning, 16-3 Monday.

The Hatchets held a 5-2 opening inning lead then added on two in the second, seven in the third and two in the fourth.

Karlie Bean kept the South Central hitters off balance, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out 11 and not walking a batter.

Meanwhile the offense was hopping for the Hatchets who finished with 15 hits. Ella Kinkelaar had a single, double, triple and an RBI, Bean a single, two doubles, a home run and four RBI, Maddy Pfeiffer two doubles and three RBI, Ava Richards with a double, home run and two RBI and Gabby Vonderheide with a double and an RBI.

South Central (5-3, 0-1) was led by Brooklyn Garrett with a single, double and an RBI, Kaitlyn Swift with a triple and Lily Malone with a single and two RBI.

Casey-Westfield took a 1-0 lead in the second and went on to blank Teutopolis 9-0 Monday.

The Warriors had 12 hits in the game while holding the Wooden Shoes to two. T-town finished with five errors.

Paige Cutright led C-W with a single, double and three RBI while Emma Mason had a single, triple and an RBI and Maya Redman three singles and two RBI. Allyson Truelove finished with two singles. Cutright went seven innings allowing two hits, two walks while striking out seven.

T-town had two hits, singles by Danielle Sarchet and Estella Mette.

At Casey

North Clay/Clay City fell to Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran, 12-1 in six innings Monday.

Morgan Hance led the North Clay/Clay City offense with a single, double and scored a run. Kirstin Allen had a double and drew a walk. Leah Cartright had a double and an RBI and Chelsea Beck had a single.

North Clay/Clay City drops to 2-3 on the season.
