Hatchets, Eagles, Pirates Capture Softball Wins

The Hatchets edged out to a 3-0 opening inning lead then broke the game open with a nine-run second and finished out with a run in the third.
Maddy Pfeiffer led the offensive onslaught with a single, double and three RBI while Natalie Hayes had two singles and two RBI, Ella Kinkelaar and Sam Porter two singles and an RBI each and Ellie Wittenberg a double and an RBI.
Sam Hayes took the win on the mound, going all five innings, allowing three runs on six hits, one walk and seven strikeouts.
Dieterich was led by Brittney Niemerg with a triple and Lucie Jansen and Courtney Brummer with a single and an RBI each.

Newton handled Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville a 9-1 loss Tuesday.
The Eagles held a 3-0 opening inning lead then had a four-run second. OPH tallied its lone run in the fifth. Newton finished out with single runs in the sixth and seventh.
The Eagles had seven hits led by Bailee Frichtl with a solo home run, Lexie Grove with a single, double and an RBI and Amber Russell with a triple and an RBI.
Kayla Kocher went three innings allowing no runs on one hit, two walks and three strikeouts for the win.

At Altamont
Cumberland came to town and left with a 9-4 victory over Altamont Tuesday.
Altamont took a 2-0 lead in the third inning but Cumberland moved ahead 4-2 in the fourth and held a 7-3 lead in the fifth. The Pirates had a 2-1 sixth inning for the 9-4 win.
Cumberland's Sage Carr led the way offensively with two singles, a home run and four RBI. Libby McGinnis had two singles and an RBI while Taylor Tolen chipped in with a double. Isabel Martinez added a single and two RBI and Avery Donsbach a single and an RBI.
Altamont outhit Cumberland by a 10-8 count. Peyton Osteen had three singles and an RBI, Grace Lemke a single, double and an RBI, and Ellie McManaway and Claire Boehm two singles. Ciara Hankins added an RBI.
