Effingham St. Anthony went eight innings before edging Teutopolis, 3-2 in girls junior high softball competition Monday.

The Bullpups scored a run in the fourth. T-town took the lead in the top of the fifth with two runs but St. Anthony tied in the bottom of the frame. The game went into the eighth inning before St. Anthony scored the winning run.

T-town outhit St. Anthony by a 10-5 count. The Bullpups had only two hitters, two singles, a triple and an RBI by Lillianne Gannaway and two singles and an RBI by Cora Hartmann.

T-town was led by Malea Helmink and Kylie Borries with a single and double each, Olivia Kemme with two singles and Mallory Bloemer with a single and an RBi.

Mia Kinkelaar went the whole eight innings, allowing two runs on two hits, two walks and five strikeouts. Alyssa Tipton was the tough-luck loser allowing three runs on five hits, three walks while striking out seven.

At Altamont

South Central continued to zip along piling up wins. This time the victim was Altamont by a 12-0 count in five innings Monday.

The winners had nine hits led by Kinlee Thompson with two triples and five RBI, Jamalyn Logan with a single and triple, Amelia Montes with a double and three RBI and Emily Rose with a single and two RBI.

Altamont had four hits led by Laila Hankins and Ella Nelson with a double each and Ada Roberts with two singles.

South Central improved to 4-0 in the National Trail Conference and 8-2 overall.

At Clay City

Dieterich trailed Clay City/North Clay 5-3 after three innings then busted loose with a seven-run fourth and went on for a 14-11 victory Monday.

Dieterich had nine hits and was aided by eight Clay City/North Clay errors.

Leading Dieterich were K. Michl with two triples and two RBI, C. Goebel with two singles and two RBI, A. Huber with two singles and an RBI and L. Meinhart with a double and an RBI.

C. Faller was the winning pitcher allowing six runs on one hit, six walks and four strikeouts.

Clay Clay/North Clay was led by K. Gaddy with a triple, B. McElroy-Fopay with two singles and two RBI and H. Mainer with a single and two RBI.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell to Vandalia, 26-4 in four innings Monday.

CHBC held a 3-1 first inning lead but Vandalia tallied eight in the second and third innings and nine in the fourth.

CHBC had four hits led by Brynlie Pope with a single, double and an RBI and Haley Doty and Byrlie Prater with a single each. Prater had an RBI.

CHBC dropped to 1--9 on the season. CHBC is back in action today hosting Mulberry Grove.

At Cowden
