Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead but Mattoon tied in the second. The Bullpups then had a three-run fourth and finished out with a 5-3 victory in junior high softball action Thursday.

Both teams had nine hits. The Bullpups were led by Lillianne Gannaway, Cora Hartmann and Liv Hoene with two singles each. Hartmann and Hoene had an RBI each.

Mia Kinkelaar went the distance on the mound for the win.

At Mattoon

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis scored a run in the fourth and held that lead until the top of the seventh when Shelbyville Moulton scored four runs to pull out a 4-1 victory Thursday.

Both teams had five hits. T-town was led by Malea Helmink with a double and Olivia Wermert with two singles. Olivia Kemme had a single and an RBI.

At Cowden

Neoga came calling and handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 14-1 loss in five innings Thursday.

The score was knotted at 1-1 after two innings but Neoga took off with a four-run third, a five-run fourth and a four-run fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Brandenburg was the winning pitcher on a one-hitter.

CHBC's one hit was a single by Allison Shields.

At Cowden

At Kinmundy

South Central broke a 0-0 tie with a 12-run second and finished out with three in the third for a 15-0 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown Thursday.

The winners had 10 hits led by Emily Rose with a single, triple and three RBI, Zoey Feldhake with two singles and Maddie Peddicord with a double and an RBI.

South Central is now 3-0 in the National Trail Confreence, 7-2 overall and travels to Altamont Monday.

SEB's lone hit was a single by Claycomb.

Jasper County picked up a 5-3 victory over Marshall Thursday.

Karly Deckard claimed the win on the mound and Megan Miller earned the save.

Jasper County is now 8-2 on the season and will play host to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Saturday in a 10 a.m. contest.
