ALTAMONT -- Jasper County claimed first place in the Altamont Opening Day Softball Tournament Saturday.

In the opener, Jasper County defeated Altamont, 13-6. The second game went to St. Anthony over Sullivan, 10-0.

Sullivan then defeated Altamont, 14-4 to finish third.

The championship went to Jasper County over St. Anthony, 13-3.

Megan Miller picked up the win for Jasper County on the mound. Jasper County is now 5-2 on the season.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis claimed its own round robin tournament with two victories Saturday.

T-town's Alyssa Tipton threw a no-hitter as the Shoes blanked Lawrenceville 12-0. Tipton went all five innings allowing three walks while striking out eight.

T-town had 10 hits led by Jersey Gadds with two singles and two RBI, Kera Hartke with two singles and an RBI and Malea Helmink with a double and an RBI.

Lawrenceville defeated Dieterich, 11-7 despite Dieterich outhitting the winners by an 11-9 count.

Lawrenceville pushed ahead 5-2 after four innings and had a two-run sixth and a four-run seventh then had to hold off Dieterich who tallied four in the bottom of the seventh.

K. Michl led Dieterich with two singles, a home run and an RBI, A. Huber with two singles, a double and an RBI, C. Faller with two singles and two RBI and C. Goebel with two singles and an RBI.

T-town blanked Dieterich 13-0 behind a one-hitter by Gaddis who finished allowing no walks and striking out four.

The Shoes were led by Helmink with two doubles and two RBI, Kylie Borries with two singles, a double and four RBI and Olivia Wermert and Mallory Bloemer with a double each.

Dieterich's lone hit was a double by K. Michl.

At Casey

South Central fell twice in the Casey-Westfield Tournament Saturday.

Casey-Westfield was a 5-1 winner in the opener. South Central outhit C-W by a 6-5 count.

Percilla Reid and Brianna Buchanan had two singles each.

Champaign Edison then defeated Casey-Westfield 1-0.

Mount Carmel was a 7-5 winner over South Central. Kinlee Thompson had a triple for South Central. Emily Rose had a single and drove in three runs.

Champaign Edison then defeated Casey-Westfield 5-3 to win the tourney.
