Area Athletes Named To ICA All-State Softball Teams

Several area athletes were named to the 2021 Illinois Coaches Association All-State Softball teams.

Named to the Class 1A First Team from Effingham St. Anthony's second-place State softball squad was Cameron Rios, a sophomore shortstop and Lucy Fearday, a sophomore pitcher.

Other members of the First Team were Makenzie Brown (Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, pitcher/outfield), Kennedy Repp (Casey-Westfield, outfield), Jenna Damon (Durand, catcher), Morgan Bernardini (Elverado, pitcher/infield), Kara Erdmann (Forreston, pitcher/outfield), Isabell Sheets (Hutsonville/Palestine, pitcher), Addie Welsh (Illini Bluffs, infield), Emma Hicks (Illini Bluffs, infield), Anna Enlow (Macon Meridian, pitcher/infield), Tessa Janecke (Orangeville, infield), Cheyenne Handsaker (Pearl City, pitcher), Madison Nelson (ROWVA Williamsfield, infield), Lexi Renner (Steeleville, pitcher/outfield), Amelia Rieger (Walther Christian Academy, pitcher/infield) and Lauren Harris (Woodlawn, infield).

Two Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg athletes were named to the Third Team and those included Hannah Hayes and Ella Kinkelaar, both infielders.

Other's named to the 1A Second Team from around the area were Eva Richardson (Casey-Westfield catcher) and Alisha Grederick and Charley Condill, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, infielder and catcher respectively. Casey-Westfield had two more players, Paige Cutright, a pitcher, and Emma Mason, an infielder, named to the Third Team.

Named to the Class 2A Third Team was Teutopolis High School's Emily Konkel, a sophomore infielder.

Three Charleston players were named to the Class 3A All-State Teams. Reagan McGahey, a senior, was chosen First Team infielder, while her teammates, Ashlynn McPeak and Kara Moore were picked for Second Team status. McPeak is a senior outfielder and Moore is a sophomore pticher.
