Bulldogs, Cougars, Indians, Hatchets Claim Softball Wins

Effingham St. Anthony pounded out 20 hits and tallied a 15-0 victory over Dieterich in girls softball competition Tuesday.

The Bulldogs scored nine in the first inning then tacked on three in the second and fourth innings.

Addie Wernsing led the way in the hitting barrage with three singles, a double and two RBI while Lucy Fearday  had three singles and three RBI and Anna Faber a single, triple and four RBI, Cameron Rios, Madeline Kibler and Sydney Kibler had a single, double and an RBI each. Grace Karolewicz had a single and double and Haley Niebrugge two singles.

S. Kibler was the winning pitcher allowing one hit, no walks and striking out six.

The lone hit for the Maroons was a single by Eva Meinhart.

At Kinmundy

South Central edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead and went on for an 8-2 victory over Newton Tuesday.

Sydnee Garrett threw the four-hitter for the win on the mound.

The Cougars had 13 hits led by Hayli Swift with a single and double, Halle Smith with two singles and an RBI, Laney Webster with a single, double and two RBI, Jaylyn Michel with two singles and S. Garrett and Lily Malone with a double and an RBI each.

Newton was led by Kocher, Kidwell, Kessler and Grove with a single each. Kessler had an RBI.

South Central heads into regional action with a 22-4 record.

At Neoga

Altamont held off a final inning challenge by Neoga to take a 6-5 victory Tuesday.

Altamont led 2-1 after three innings and 5-3 after five. Both teams tallied single runs in the sixth and Neoga came back with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Altamont had seven hits led by O. Eckhardt with two singles, a double and three RBI and B. Teasley with a single, double and two RBI.

Teasley went the distance on the mound, allowing five runs on eight hits, four walks while striking out nine.

Neoga was led by Hatton with a single, home run and two RBI, Feaday with a single and double and O'Dell with two singles.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg had a four-inning win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 27-3 Tuesday.

The Hatchets brought home 18 runs in the first inning and scored four in the second and five in the third. CHBC tallied two in the first and one in the foiurth.

Natalie Hayes had a big night for the winners with two singles, a double, home run and six RBI. Hannah Hayes had a single, triple, home run and four RBI. Ella Kinkelaar had two singles, a triple and four RBI while Maddy Pfeiffer had two singles, a double and two RBI. Gabby Vonderheide added a double and an RBI. Alexis Agney and Kaylynn Carey had a single and drove in two runs each.

Gracie Heckert had two singles for CHBC while Ruby Stuckemeyer had a single and two RBI.

At Strasburg

This contest was touch and go but unfortunately for Teutopolis, Casey-Westfield came through in the bottom of the seventh for a 1-0 victory Tuesday.

The Warriors had one more hit than T-town by a 5-4 count. K. Repp had a triple, C. Zachary two singles and A. Squires drove in the winning run.

T-town had four hits led by Danielle Sarchet with two singles while Emily Konkel and Daischa Piedra a single.

At Casey
