Effingham St. Anthony played host to Altamont in junior high softball action Monday and tallied a 4-2 victory.

The Bullpups had nine hits in the contest led by Madeline Kibler with two singles, a double and an RBI, Hailey Niebrugge with a double, triple and two RBI and Adysen Rios with two singles.

Altamont was led by Grace Nelson with a single, triple and an RBI.

At Martinsville

Martinsville claimed a doubleheader over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

In the opener, Martinsville was a 16-6 winner in six innings. Martinsville had eight hits and was aided by 13 CHBC errors.

CHBC was led by Ruby Stuckemeyer with two singles and an RBI and Macee Rodman with two singles.

In the second contest, Martinsville edged out to a 3-1 opening inning lead and went on for a 14-2 win in five innings.

CHBC did not get a hit. Stuckemeyer had an RBI.

Red Hill (Bridgeport) tallied a 14-4 win over Clay City/North Clay Monday.

Morgan Hance was the tough-luck loser on the mound, going three innings, allowing one hit, eight unearned runs and striking out 10.

Sammie Craig had a single, two doubles and three RBI in the loss. Hance had two singles. The Cubs drop to 6-5 on the season.
