Effingham Junior High School claimed a 10-4 win over Casey-Westfield in softball competition Thursday.

The Mustangs broke a 1-1 tie with an eight-run fifth and tacked on a final run in the sixth.

Effingham had 13 hits led by S. Donaldson with three singles and three RBI, B. Beals with a single, triple and two RBI, I. Volpi and J. Bierman with two singles and an RBI each.

S. Althoff went 6.2 innings for the win on the mound, allowing four runs on six hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Mattoon in softball action Thursday.

WSS had 11 hits in the contest led by Samantha Hayes and Alaira Friese with three singles and an RBI each, Gabby Vonderheide with two singles and Ella Kinkelaar with a double.

Stacey Vonderheide earned the win on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, no walks and five strikeouts.

Jasper County stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead and ended this one in the fourth inning over Flora Floyd Henson, 16-1.

Jasper County had seven hits and was aided by nine Flora errors.

A. Mulvey had a double and drove in two runs while M. Michel had a single and double. S. Kinder had three RBI.

M. Michel picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with two walks and three strikeouts.

CHBC was led by Birgen Schlanser with two singles and an RBI. CHBC drops to 0-9 on the season, 0-4 in the National Trail Conference.

P. Osteen threw a three-hitter with four walks and 10 strikeouts.
