Turner Inducted Into Softball HOF

The USA/ASA Softball Hall of Fame inducted Effingham local Mike Turner of the Turner Trucking Slo-Pitch softball team for 2019.

The Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony will be held April 13 at the Decatur Area Convention Center. Turner will be the third member of the Turner Trucking team inducted. Mike Bohannon and Ron Ohnesroge were inducted in 2017. The Turner Trucking Team was inducted in 2011.

Turner played for over 23 years in the ASA. He also served as an ASA District Commissioner, umpire and team sponsor.

Turner's career highlights include a 1,073 win, 278 loss record on the Turner Trucking team, 11-time league champions, 1989  Busch Stadium Tournament of Champions, 1994 ASA Class A fourth place, 1992 ASA Class A fourth place, 1994 ASA Class A third place and 1995 ASA Men's Major fourth place. In 1995 Turner Trucking had an 89-9 record and in 1996 a 117-16 record, winning 12 tournaments that season.

Turner finished his career with 2,057 hits, 1,268 RBI and over 1,000 pitching victories. Career season highs included 246 runs, 270 hits, 54 doubles, 15 triples, 46 home runs, 199 RBI and a 0.592 average.
