T-town, Dieterich, S. Central, WSS Claim Softball Wins

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School blanked Salem 4-0 in girls softball competition Monday behind the standout pitching by A. Brumleve.

Brumleve threw a two-hitter. She didn't give up a walk and struck out 14. She also aided the offensive cause of the Shoes with a single and double.

Mette finished with a triple and an RBI and Funneman added a double.

The Wooden Shoes tallied three runs in the third inning and tacked on a final run in the fourth.

The game was the season opener for the Shoes.

Teutopolis also claimed the junior varsity contest, 4-0.

At Dieterich

Dieterich captured a 7-2 win over National Trail Conference opponent Brownstown/St. Elmo Monday.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 in the first inning and 2-2 in the third. But Dieterich broke loose with three runs in the fourth and added on two more in the fifth.

The Movin' Maroons banged out 11 hits led by Jenny Robards with three singles and an RBI, Molly Niemerg with a single, double and two RBI, Emily Bloemer with two singles and Andrea Bierman with a double and two RBI.

Robards picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts. Boerngen came on in the fourth and went four innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two.

BSE was led by Katelyn Maxey with a single, double and an RBI and Natalie Oberlink with a double and an RBI.

At Mulberry Grove

South Central easily handled Mulberry Grove in action Monday, 14-3 in five innings.

The Cougars banged out 10 hits in the contest led by Sydnee Garrett with a single, double and three RBI, Halle Smith with a double and two RBI, Katlyn Hilmes with a double and an RBI, Kayli Swift with two singles and two RBI and Angelica Rivera with two singles.

Garrett picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with four walks and seven strikeouts.

"This was our first game of the season and we played well," said South Central Coach Gary Kapper. "It was the first time we saw live pitching and the girls did a good job of making contact. Sydnee pitched well for her first game of the season."

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Flora, 10-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule Monday.

The Hatchets took a 3-0 first inning lead and added on five in the second and two in the fourth.

Megan Schlechte led the way in hitting with a single, triple and three RBI while Tabbert added a double and three RBI. Ava Bennett had two singles and two RBI and Roney two singles.

Calla Roney picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with no walks and seven strikeouts.

At Strasburg
