Effingham St. Anthony Junior High School pounded out 20 hits and handed Mulberry Grove a 22-6 softball loss Monday.

The Bullpups took a 5-1 opening inning lead then had an eight-run second inning. Rylee Rothrock had a big game offensively with two singles, a triple, home run and eight RBI. Cameron Rios had three singles, a double and an RBI. Guy finished with three doubles and three RBI while Kabbes had a double, triple and an RBI.

Rios threw a nine-hitter with two walks and six strikeouts.

At Cowden

Effingham had a big scoring contest in downing Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-15 in action Monday.

The Mustangs held a 12-0 lead in the top of the third. CHBC came back with 10 runs in the bottom of the third. But the Mustangs went on to score four in the fifth and nine in the sixth.

Althoff had a home run and two RBI for Effingham while Allie had a single, two triples and two RBI. A. Cunningham added a single, triple and three RBI, Duncan a single, double and an RBI, Bushur a double and two RBI and Lohman a triple.

CHBC was led by Duckwitz with a single, double, two triples and three RBI and Heckert with two doubles and five RBI. CHBC drops to 1-5.

Shelbyville Moulton downed visiting Altamont 15-0 in four innings. The two teams went scoreless in the first two innings before Shelbyville Moulton broke loose with 13 runs in the third and tacked on two more in the fourth.

Holland threw a no-hitter for Moulton. Altamont drops to 0-6 on the season.

At Stewardson

South Central came calling and claimed a 12-0 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

South Central took a 2-0 first inning lead then added on three in the second, one in the fourth, two in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Halle Smith threw a one-hitter with four walks and eight strikeouts.

Laney Webster had a single, triple and an RBI for the winners. Brooklyn Garrett and Smith had two singles and two RBI each. South Central is 2-0.
