SEB Wins Softball Tourney, Roundup

Teutopolis suffered two softball losses in Saturday competition.

In the opening game, Waltonville beat the Wooden Shoes 10-1 in five innings. Waltonville stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and never looked back.

T-town had six hits in the game led by Hemmen with two singles. The Shoes committed four errors.

In the second contest, Gillespie claimed a 10-0 win in five innings via the 10-run rule.

Gillespie tallied three in the first, two in the second and had a five-run fifth.

T-town's Drees had the lone hit with a single.

Henrichs was the winning pitcher, allowing the one hit, one walk and striking out eight.

T-town drops to 2-4 on the season.

At Mulberry Grove

South Central competed in the Mulberry Grove Tournament and suffered two losses.

The Cougars fell to the host squad 13-8. Mulberry Grove held a 5-4 lead after three then had a three-run fifth and a four-run sixth.

Serina Lee had a home run and two RBI for the Cougars while Sidney Wilkins had two singles, a home run and three RBI. Katie Schumacher and Angelica Rivera had two singles each. Shumate added an RBI.

In the second game,South Central fell to Breese Mater Dei 15-2. Mater Dei took an 8-0 lead after two innings.

South Central had seven singles by seven different players. The Cougars drop to 1-4 on the season.

At Martinsville

St. Elmo/Brownstown won a round robin tournament Saturday.

SEB trounced Alden-Hebron 12-2 in five innings. SEB led 4-0 in the first.

Brown led the way for the winners with a single, double and triple and two RBI.

Oberlink threw a two-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts.

In the second game, St. Elmo/Brownstown blanked Martinsville 15-0 in four innings.

SEB had 16 hits led by Brown with a single, double, triple and two RBI, Moss with three singles and three RBI and Philpot two singles and two RBI.
