Bulldogs Claim DH, Softball Roundup

SULLIVAN -- Effingham St. Anthony captured the Sullivan Round Robin Softball Tournament Saturday.

The Bulldogs defeated Mulberry Grove 7-3. The score was tied at 3-3 in the top of the fourth but the Bulldogs came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame and tacked on two more in the fifth.

Kabbes had the lone extra base hit of the game, a double and drove in two runs. L. Day added two RBI.

In the second game, St. Anthony downed host Sullivan 10-5. The Bulldogs had 10 hits in the contest while Coffin pitched a nine-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.

The Bulldogs led 1-0 after the first then tacked on four in the second and five more in the fourth.

Hakman and Gibson had two singles each. L. Day and Kinkelaar had a single and two RBI each.

At Mount Zion

Teutopolis ran into a tough Mount Zion team Friday and fell 15-3 in five innings via the 10-run rule.

The Braves held a 4-0 first inning lead then added on five in the second, three in the third and three more in the fourth.

Kennedy had a single, home run and four RBI while Sarff had a single and double.

T-town was led by Drees with a single, home run and two RBI and M. Hemmen had two singles.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City bounced Dieterich 14-3 in six innings Friday.

CHBC had four-run innings in the second, fourth and sixth. Bella Doty had three singles and three RBI while Kylie Wheeler had a single, double and two RBI, Felicia Johnson two singles and two RBI and Jenna Wojcik two singles.
