Effingham added three runs in the fifth. Fearday doubled to lead off the inning. After a sacrifice moved Fearday to third, Hope Collier doubled her home to make it 4-2. Jenna Wright then doubled home Collier, and Weis singled home Wright and the lead was 6-2.

St. Anthony scored twice in the sixth to pull within 6-4. With one out, Liz Day singled and Abbie Schmidt then homered.

Effingham then came back with two in the bottom of the sixth. Aly Armstrong led off with a double and Alissa Kersey singled but was then thrown out and Armstrong scored on the play to make it 7-4. Fearday reached base with two outs on an error and was wild pitched to second. Kaylee Tonn's single advanced Fearday and then Collier reached on an error allowing Fearday to score.

St. Anthony still wasn't done, though. Katie Kabbes reached on an error and was wild pitched to second. With two outs, Allie Day singled home Kabbes to make it 8-5, but the next batter was retired to end the game.
