The Teutopolis Junior High School softball team played its home opener Thursday against Effingham in its first conference game.

"Effingham is an outstanding team and it was a great game," said T-town  Coach Brittany Meyer. "We won 7-4 with outstanding pitching from starting pitcher Abby Bloemer. Allie Brumleve pitched one inning and looked great although Bloemer finished the game.

"Bloemer also led off with a smashing double and went two-for-three with two doubles. Brumleve went four-for-four, Claire Bushur went one-for-two, but reached base three of her four at-bats. Myah Funneman went two-for-four with several big plays at third base. The girls played outstanding and the team effort is what won this game tonight."
