St. A, S. Central Drop Softball Losses, Stew-Stras/Windsor Wins

SHELBYVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Shelbyville and fell in a softball contest, 7-4 Monday evening.

The two squads were tied at 3-3 after the first inning. The Rams then tallied two runs in the bottom of the second. St. Anthony pulled within 5-4 in the fourth but Shelbyville tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Both teams had five hits in the contest. Shelbyville was led by Holland with a home run and three RBI and Boone with a triple and an RBI. The Bulldogs had all singles by five different players.

At Cisne

South Central handed Cisne an 11-4 loss in a game moved to Cisne because of a wet field.

The Cougars stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back. South Central had 10 hits in the contest. Abby King hit the cycle with a single, double, triple and home run. She had four RBI. Mia Campbell had a single, home run and an RBI.

South Central is now 2-4 overall.

At Windsor

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor blanked Neoga 13-0 in six innings Monday evening.

Stew-Stras/Windsor held a 3-0 first inning lead and Kendall Knop no-hit Neoga through the six innings.

Knop allowed one walk and struck out eight. Knop also aided her own cause with a single and two doubles. Madison Everett had two doubles and Taylor Rentfro a single and triple. Stew-Stras/Windsor improves to 3-0 in the National Trail Conference, 3-7 overall.
