Wooden Shoes Head To Soccer Sectional Championship

WILLIAMSVILLE -- Teutopolis High School is headed to the Class 1A Wiliamsville Soccer Sectional championship.

The Wooden Shoes beat Pleasant Plains 3-2 Friday to advance. The match was tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation. T-town went up 2-1 by the end of the first overtime.

Pleasant Plains scored in the second overtime to tie it back up at 2-2 and send the match into PKs.

The Shoes won the PKs 4-2 to claim the match, 3-2.

Both goals in regulation were scored by Josh Habing. His first goal was assisted by Ethan Thoele and the second by Logan Lawson.

PK scorers were Habing, Thoele, Evan Waldhoff and Joey Niebrugge.

The second match went to Williamsville over Newton, 4-0.

T-town advances to the sectional championship match and will face off against Wililamsville Tuesday at 7 p.m. 

The winner will advance to the super-sectional at Virden North Mac against the winner of the Murphysboro Sectional, either Alton Marquette or Columbia at 7 p.m. Saturday.

 

Class 2A Effingham Regional

Troy Triad claimed the championship of the Effingham Regional Friday.

Triad downed Highland, 6-1 and advances to the Freeburg Sectional Tuesday to take on host Freeburg at 5 p.m.
