Effingham and Mount Zion tied at 2-2 in high school soccer action Thursday.

Scoring the two goals for the Hearts were Andrew Wagoner and Maicol Sefton. Aiden Hanks and Edu Crespo had one assist each. Xander Marler tallied nine saves.

"We played a great game against Mount Zion," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "The team shows more steps in improvement as the season progresses, as the previous game against Mount Zion this season we lost 8-1.

"We led the majority of the game, scoring the first and third goals. They scored the equalizer with four minutes left on the clocik. It was a game that we're all really proud of and it was great to see the team come together.

"Major team effort with many different players stepping up in different ways in passing, defending, goalkeeping, effort, teamwork and even bringing new strategies to the table. It was a full team effort."

The Hearts are now 12-4-1 on the season.

EHS has four regular season games remaining and returns to action Monday, playing host to Richand County in a 4:30 p.m. contest. The match is Senior Night.
