EHS Picks Up Seventh Win of Fall Saturday; St. A. Falls to St. T.

Effingham improved to 7-1 on the season with a 4-0 victory over Altamont Saturday morning.

EHS Soccer Coach Logan Arney said, "This was one of our strongest team performances as the team played together and controlled the field well. We are all excited to see how this season continues."

This is a busy season for the Hearts soccer squad. Arney said, "We are playing at Newton on Tuesday and at Charleston on Thursday, with our next home game Saturday at 11am against Taylorville."

In Saturday's contest, Maicol Sefton had three goals along with an assist, Camilo Aden registered one goal with two assists, Gage Kinder had an assist, and Xander Marler had two saves.

Saturday was a bounceback for the soccer Hearts after falling 8-1 Thursday to Mt. Zion for their only loss of the season. Arney said of Thursday's performance, "We fought hard, but had some unlucky goals slip in. I feel that the score line doesn't match the performance. 

In the Thursday contest, Maicol Sefton score the lone goal for the Hearts, while Xander Marler had 11 saves.

St. Anthony fell to St. Teresa 7-1 in soccer action on Saturday.

Junior Elijah Preston scored the Bulldogs goal after a corner from senior Marvin Rodriguez. The Bulldogs gave up three penalty kicks.

It was a 1-1 tie at halftime.
