Hearts Continue Winning Streak In Soccer

MOUNT VERNON -- Effingham High School's winning soccer streak continued as the Hearts blanked Mount Vernon, 6-0 Wednesday.

"Yet again, it was a team effort as everyone played great from start to finish," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "Our record is now 6-0 to start the season. This is a huge accomplishemnt and definitely something we are proud of."

Camilo Aden and Maicol Sefton scored two goals each for the Hearts. Sefton added two assists. Edu Crespo had a goal and an assist and Gave Kinder finished out the goal scoring with one.

Xander Marler had 10 saves for the Hearts.

The junior varsity team also won, beating Mount Vernon 3-0.

Danny Angel, Cole Orth and Khye Stanfield scored one goal each. Scott Robinson, Gage Kinder and Camilo Aden had one save each.

The Hearts are right back in action today as they travel to Mount  Zion for a 4:30 p.m. contest. They will play host to Altamont Saturday at 10 a.m.
