T-town Claims Soccer Wins, St. A Falls

MOUNT VERNON -- Teutopolis High School captured both junior varsity and varsity soccer victories Saturday.

The varsity Wooden Shoes won 7-2. Ethan Thoele led the Shoes with four goals. Gavin Buening contributed two goals while Gavin Tegeler had one.

Cooper Tegeler led in assists with two while Josh Habing, G. Tegeler and Thoele all had one each.

The Shoes moved to 3-1 on the season. 

The junior varsity blanked Mount Vernon, 4-0. Goals were scored by Issac McWhorter with the hat trick and Tyler Peterson.

"We had a great day," said T-town coach Aaron Wendt. "Winning both the varsity and junior varsity matches. We will travel to Altamont Monday in a 6 p.m. start."

 

At St. Anthony

Hillsboro came calling and downed Effingham St. Anthony by a 5-0 count Saturday.

"We played well in the first 20 minutes of the game until Hillsboro was awarded a penalty kick, which gave them their first goal," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "The first half ended with us behind 3-0 and Hillsboro scored two more goals in the second half."
