Altamont, T-town Nab Soccer Wins, St. A Loses

ALTAMONT -- Altamont HIgh School handed Carlyle a 2-1 soccer loss in Saturday competition.

Altamont took a 1-0 first half lead.as Javian Slanser scored with seven minutes on the clock. The second score came in the second half by Martin Cook with 34:00. Hayden Summers had one assist.

Carlyle's score came at 27:00 in the second half.

Slanser had 11 shots while Cook had nine and Summers eight. Jack Lowery had six shots, Devon Sloan four, Garrett Schultz two and Cooper Pals one. Josh Overton had eight saves.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis blanked Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond 7-0 in Saturday action.

Goals were scored for the Wooden Shoes by Ethan Thoele with two, Nolan Runde with two and one each Evan Wadlhoff and Hjalte Madsen.

Josh Habing had three assists.

The Shoes improve to 8-0-1 and host Pana Monday at 5 p.m.

 

At Decatur

Decatur St. Teresa scored four goals in each half and downed Effingham St. Anthony, 8-1.

"We struggled with injuries during the game but many players stepped up," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "Luis Gonzalez scored from a corner kick by Evan Mossman. Pierce Verdeyen and Zach Hurren had great games defensively and Mac Levin, Sean Silva, Carson Fallert and Maddox Wiedman created many opportunities to score."
