Mt. Vernon Beats EHS In Soccer, 9-6

Mount Vernon handed Effingham a 9-6 loss in high school soccer action Wednesday.

"We lost a disappointing game today against Mount Vernon," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "We ended the first half up 5-3 but Mount Vernon came back to win 9-6. We are looking stronger and stronger each game but are learning how to play our game the entire match.

"We look to play Mount Zion at home Thursday and travel to Altamont Saturday for a morning game at 10 a.m."

Maicol Sefton, a freshman, scored four goals for the Hearts. Camilo Aden, also a freshman, had one goal and two assists. Senior Roy Arellano had one goal. Andrew Wagoner, a freshman, had one assist. Junior Xander Marler had four saves.
