Effingham, Altamont Soccer Winners

VANDALIA -- Effingham easily handled Vandalia in high school soccer competition Thursday by a 7-2 count.

"We played very well together as a team," said Coach Logan Arney. "Which shows with the number of assists per goal. It's two wins in a row for us."

Maicol Sefton, a freshman, was the standout in scoring for the Hearts with four goals and two assists. Camilo Aden, a freshman, Memphis Leasher, a senior and Andrew Wagoner, a freshman, scored one goal each. Aden finished with one assist.

Marc Asejo, a senior, had one assist and junior Xander Marler had five saves.

 

At Carlyle

Altamont took a 3-0 lead in the opening half and went on for a 4-0 victory over Carlyle Thursday.

In the first half, Devin Sloan had the opening goal with an assist by Cooper Pals at 39:08. Max Runge scored at 30:45 with an assist by Jack Lowry. The final goal of the first half came at 28:33 by Josh Overton.

In the second half, Kenny Robbins scored with 5:00 left to make it 4-0.

Lowry had six shots and five steals in the contest. Javian Schlanser had eight shots while Hayden Summers had six shots and a steal. Garrett Schultz finished with four steals and Marlin Cook three steals and four shots.

Conner Klitzing had three saves as keeper.
