Bruins Blank Lightning, Bolts' Stamkos Hurt

(Boston, MA) -- Tuukka Rask turned away all 28 shots he faced as the Bruins blanked the Lightning 3-0 in a Veteran's Day matinée at TD Garden. Patrice Bergeron and Daniel Paille scored 20 seconds apart late in the second period and Jarome Iginla added a goal in the final minute of the third as Boston won its third straight. Tampa Bay forward Steven Stamkos was taken off the ice on a stretcher in the second period when he slid feet-first into the goal post and injured his leg. Anders Lindback made 23 saves in defeat. The Bolts had won their previous four games.

 

Blues Host Coyotes

(St. Louis, MO) -- The Blues continue their five-game homestand tonight hosting the Coyotes. St. Louis has won the first two games to extend their winning streak to three games. They are 11-2-2. Phoenix is 12-4-2.

The Blues announced Monday defenseman Jordan Leopold will undergo surgery during the week to repair tendon damage in his right hand. Leopold was injured last week and will be out a minimum of eight weeks before being re-evaluated. He has two points in 13 appearances this season.

 

Blackhawks Off Until Thursday

(Chicago, IL) -- The Blackhawks have a few more days before getting back on the ice.  Chicago hosts the Phoenix Coyotes Thursday night at United Center. The 'Hawks moved to 12-2-4 with Sunday's 5-4 victory over Edmonton. The 'Yotes take on the Blues in St. Louis tonight.

 

Five New Members Head To Hockey Hall

(Toronto, Ontario) -- The Hockey Hall of Fame has opened its doors to five new members. Scott Niedermayer, Brendan Shanahan, Chris Chelios, Fred Shero and Geraldine Heaney were all inducted into the Hall of Fame on Monday night in Toronto. Niedermayer spent 18 years in the NHL and helped the Devils win three championships as well as Anaheim's first and only title. Shanahan and Chelios both won three titles, including one as teammates during 2002 with the Red Wings. Shero guided the Flyers to back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships in 1974 and 1975. Heaney is a two-time Olympic medalist that took silver in 1998 and gold in 2002 as part of the Canadian National Women's Hockey Team.

 

Lightning's Stamkos Out With Broken Tibia

(Boston, MA) -- Tampa Bay Lightning star Steven Stamkos is out indefinitely with a broken right tibia. He suffered the injury during Monday's loss in Boston. Stamkos crashed into the right post in the Lightning zone after making contact with a Bruins defenseman  The 23-year-old is currently tied for the NHL lead in goals.

 

Five New Members Head To Hockey Hall
