President Biden welcomed the NHL champion Tampa Bay Lightning to the White House Monday, as they got the traditional sports championship visit after winning the Stanley Cup back-to-back the past two seasons.

Although the Lightning won the championship three times -- in 2004, 2020 and 2021 -- it was the first time they went to the White House. The 2004-05 lockout prevented that year’s team from going, and the pandemic prevented it until now for the past two seasons’ titles.
