Douglas Rich Does Well at National Finals Rodeo

Douglas Rich, a team roper from Herrick, recently competed at the National FInals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ten teams competed for 10 straight days at the National Finals. Rich and his partner Coy Rahlmann claimed first place in Round 6. They were 3/10ths of a second off the arena record of 3.6 seconds. They earned $26.997 for the first place.

The pair finished third in Round 8, were fourth in Round 3 and fifth in Round 10.

During 2021, Rich and Rahlmann won at the Canby (Oregon) Rodeo, at the Matagorda County Fair & Livestock Exposition in Bay City, Texas and were co-champions at the Parker County Sheriffs Posse Frontier Days in Weatherford, Texas, at the Magic Valley Stampde in Filer, Idaho and at the Yellowstone River Round-up in Billings, Montana.

Rich has $27,607 in career earnings and is in 43rd place in the world standings. He earned $17,071 in 2020.

He went to Western Oklahoma State College for two years and studied agriculture business and  two years at the University of Tennessee at Martin and studied farming and ranch management. His grandfather, mother and father have all been involved in rodeo.
