Area Still Seeing Disc Golf Champions As Season Nears Close

It's almost Thanksgiving, but our area is still cranking out disc golf champions.

Effingham's Joseph Garland was the Advanced Division champion at the 17th Annual Pumpkin Shootout on November 7 at Mesker Park in Evansville, Indiana.

Garland shot a 14-under 100, 50 each round. His two rounds featured 15 birdies against just one bogey. The title came against 26 other competitors in the Advanced Division and gave Garland his eighth career victory. 

Effingham's Mark Jones finished seventh in Advanced with a six-under 108, featuring rounds of 56 and 52. 

Cole Mintert of Mattoon captured the Intermediate Division championship with a seven-under 103, finishing with rounds of 51 and 52. Mintert claimed his seventh career win.

Also on November 7, Dieterich's Bob Feldhake won first place honors in the Recreational Division at The Highland Open in Bloomington. Feldhake won with an even-par 110, recording rounds of 57 and 53. The effort gave Feldhake his third career victory.

Ben Feldhake of Teutopolis finished tied for sixth in Recreational with a +11 121 with rounds of 63 and 58. 

Mintert picked up another win in Intermediate Division on November 14 at the Shelbyville Turkey Trot 1. Mintert finished four-under 112, four shots ahead of Olney's Marty Ellison who finished even on the day, picking up career win #8.

Kyle Miller of Stewardson finished third in Novice Division at +15 131 with rounds of 65 and 66. 

Bradley Livingston of Effingham finished tied for 11th in Novice at +36 152 with rounds of 76 and 76.
