Canadiens Head To Stanley Cup With Win

The Montreal Canadiens are heading to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1993, beating the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in overtime Thursday night to win their semifinal series 4 games to 2.

Artturi Lehkonen scored the winning goal at 1:39 into overtime.

Montreal will play for the Stanley Cup against the winner of the series between the defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Islanders, which are tied at 3-3 with the deciding Game 7 tonight.

 

Kraken Announce Dave Hakstol As Head Coach

The National Hockey League’s expansion Seattle Kraken announced Dave Hakstol Thursday as their first head coach.

Hakstol, who was an unexpected hire, was head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers for more than three seasons from 2015 to 2019, and a Toronto Maple Leafs assistant for the past two years.

The Kraken will play in the Pacific Division, with the Arizona Coyotes shifting to the Central Division.
