New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard qualified on Monday for the country’s team in next month’s Tokyo Olympics in the women’s super-heavyweight division, which will make her the first transgender athlete to compete in the Olympics.

At 43, she will also be the oldest weightlifter at the Games. Hubbard, who transitioned eight years ago, has met the International Olympic Committee’s regulations for female trans athletes, including that her testosterone level has been below a  certain level for at least 12 months.
