The New York Rangers called Tuesday for the removal of George Parros as head of the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety after the Washington Capitals’ Tom Wilson was fined, but not suspended, for two incidents during the Rangers-Capitals game Monday.T

Wilson was fined $5,000 for punching Pavel Buchnevich in the back of the head while he was facedown on the ice and throwing Artemi Panarin to the ice.

The Rangers said “We view this as a dereliction of duty by . . . Parros and believe he is unfit to continue in his current role.”
