Bruins Beat Flyers In NHL Shootout, Jan. 21 Scores

BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins claimed their home opener but had to go to a shootout to edge the Philadelphia Flyers, 5-4 Thursday.

Philadelphia held a 2-0 lead but the Bruins fought back and pulled within 3-2. Then came four scores in the the third period by Jack Studnicka, Charlie Coyle, Nick Ritchie and Brandon Carlo for the Bruins.

The Flyers came back to knot the score when James van Riemsdyk scored in the third period. In the shootout, Jake DeBrusk tallied for the Bruins win.

Boston now is 2-1-1 on the season while the Flyers dropped to 3-1-1.
