EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- To navigate through the challenging financial landscape caused by COVID-19, SIUE Athletics announces the launch of Victory SIUE, a campaign directly supporting Cougar student-athletes and their respective programs.

Victory SIUE is a special gift advocacy to help SIUE's 16 Division I sports as annual athletic department fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled. With Victory SIUE, each sport has its own unique opportunity for alumni and fans to give individually or work together to make gifts. By visiting siuecougars.com/victory, Cougar supporters can click the sport icon of their choosing, leading to that team's page and creative options to contribute. Also on the team pages, donors will be recognized for their generosity and may leave personal pleas, encouraging former teammates, fellow alums, or fans to match or make gifts.

"With the pandemic's complexity hampering our traditional fundraising efforts, we are proud to share Victory SIUE," SIUE Director of Athletics Tim Hall said. "We appreciate our alumni and friends of SIUE Athletics making gifts to Victory SIUE which are commensurate with their personal and professional situations. Their support makes a difference to our student-athletes now and enables programs to further grow their success."

For men's and women's soccer, Cougar fans make gifts and fill positions on the field in the On The Pitch Challenge. Softball supporters help by hitting home runs in the Charlie Montgomery Home Run Derby. Aces are the themes for volleyball's Cougars Ace Challenge and the women's tennis On Serve Challenge. Knocking down shots from beyond the arc is the goal for women's basketball's From Downtown Challenge.

For men's basketball's Sixth Man Challenge, Cougars fans make gifts and fill up the shot chart and the arena. Men's golf wants to see leaderboard wins in their Match Play Challenge. Baseball will give current and new members of the Dugout Club the opportunity to "rally" in the Cougars Rally Challenge. For wrestling's Restoring The Glory, the focus will be the wrestling room expansion project. Track & Field/Cross Country supporters take their place on the podium with the Cougar Relays Challenge.

"We are excited to initiate this creative and purposeful opportunity to help our teams," said Tad Middleton, SIUE Athletics' Director of Development. "In these challenging times, financial support is vital for our programs' pursuits of providing a quality student-athlete experience and competing at the highest level. On behalf of SIUE Athletics, we greatly appreciate the willingness of our Cougar fans, family, and alumni to contribute to our student-athletes in this meaningful way."

Victory SIUE's launch is part of the University's Giving Tuesday initiative, which will take place on Tuesday, December 1. The Victory SIUE campaign will be ongoing and conclude at the end of the 2020-21 school year.
