St. Anthony's Jules Harden Wins 200-Yard Freestyle At Sectional

Effingham St. Anthony High School's Jules Harden claimed the championship of the 200-Yard Freestyle at the Champaign Central Swimming & Diving Sectional Saturday.

Harden won with a time of 1:55.36 and would have advanced to the State Finals but those have been canceled this year.

Harden also placed third in the 100 yard butterfly in 58.85.

St. Anthony's Alexandra Ciorna took second in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:01.51 and was fifth in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:13.37

Swimming for Effingham were: Elile Waymoth, sixth in the 50 yard freestyle in 26.29 and sixth in the 100 yard freestyle in 58.92; Laurel Hirtzel 20th in the 50 yard freestyle in 29.04 and 15th in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:16.01; Julia Kinder, 24th in the 100 yard freestyle in 1:16.11 and 25th in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:33.68; Kalista Jackson 27th in the 100 yard backstroke in 2:01.19 and Kaitlyn Budde 15th in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:19.53.


Swimming for Teutopolis was Elise Passalacqua who finished 16th in the 50 yard freestyle in 28.25 and 13th in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:17.54

Champaign Centennial won the team championship with 134 points followed by Champaign Central 126, Charleston 88, Urbana University 80, Sullivan 67, Monticello 53, Effingham St. Anthony 51, Danville 37, Urbana 34, Maroa-Forsyth 33, Catlin Salt Fork 27, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 22, Effingham 18, Mount Zion 17 and Champaign St. Thomas More 12.
