Klein Overall Winner at 2020 Battle at the Crossroads

Rich Klein III was the overall winner at the 2020 Battle at the Crossroads, the Effingham Open Disc Golf Tournament.

Klein shot -24, one shot better than Metro East resident and Effingham native Alex Schimmelpfenning. Rounding out the Top 5 in the Open Division were Christopher Meyer, and Nathan Yemm, with Greg Freeman and Keo Sebengsy tying for fith. Dick England and Nate Heinold tied for seventh place, and Joseph Garland and Adrian Chevalier tied for ninth.

James Taylor shot -17 to win the Advanced Division by three shots over Ethan Simmons.

Effinghammer Gary Welton shot -10 to win the Amateur Masters 40+, and Dave Dolph shot -8 to win the Amateur Masters 50+. 

Hadley Majors of Effingham won the Intermediate Division, shooting -14. Two other Effinghammers, Brandon Puckett and Billy Cook finished second and third in Intermediate, and Cole Mintert of Effingham finished fifth.

Effinghammer Paul Jones shot even par to win the Recreational Division, Nikkolette Searle won the Recreational Women Division, and Jack Epley won the Novice Division with Ben Keller of Effingham taking second.

After 50 disc golfers competed at the 2019 tournament, more than 80 players took part in this year's event. The event was sponsored by Effingham Disc Golf Evangelists (EDGE). Joseph Garland served as tournament director, with Mark Jones serving as assistant tournament director. Also sponsoring the event were Discraft, Plastic Addicts, Koerner Distributor, and the Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau.
