Who says disc golf can't be a team sport?

An Effingham trio won the Three Man Throwdown for a Brighter Tomorrow held Sunday at Silver Lake Park in Highland. The tournament was a fundraiser to benefit the Swing for Sydney Foundation. The foundation is working to help fund teenage mental health awareness programs and suicide prevention.

The Effingham trio...Joseph Garland, Mark Jones and Hadley Majors...played as Jungle Law. They certainly laid the law down, winning the 25-team event by nine shots. The three played 36 holes in 94 shots, 34 under par. They shot a 13-under par 51 in the first round amid putting woes and wind, then amped it up in the second round, shooting a 21-under par 43. Their second round consisted of three eagles, 14 birdies, and one par. They helped themselves with no bogeys on the day.

The second place finishers finished at 25-under 103. The third place team finished at 21-under 107.

Garland, Jones and Majors are now getting ready for the 2nd Annual Effingham Open, also known as the Battle at the Crossroads. The event is set for Saturday at the Effingham Disc Golf Course located at Community Park.
