NORMAL -- The annual Row 4 Dough to benefit Special Olympics Illinois will kick off on Tuesday, September 8, and conclude Tuesday, September 22. The annual event is open to all who are interested in participating. In an effort to unite participants across the state, teams will have the option to row in person or virtually. All proceeds directly support Special Olympics Illinois athletes.

This year, rowers can compete individually (rowing a 5K), as a five-person team (rowing 13.1 miles), or as a 10-person team (rowing 26.2 miles). Rowing can be completed on water or in the gym. Teams or individuals are asked to complete their distance and submit their time between September 8 and September 22.a

“2020 has been quite a year so far,” says Roger Bedeker, Community Events, The Factory Bloomington-Normal. “But those changes do not mean it is less important to support this great cause.”Bedeker is a long-time volunteer for Special Olympics Illinois, participating in Row 4 Dough as well as Polar Plunge and Summer Games, among others.

“In fact, it is actually more important than ever that we do what we can to ensure programs like Special Olympics Illinois are here to continue serving our communities in 2021 and beyond.”

All participants/team members must raise a minimum of $50 in donations. Each participant will receive a t-shirt. For each $250 raised by an individual or team member, that fundraiser will receive one entry into a raffle for a YETI cooler.
