NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman on Tuesday raised the possibility for the first time since play was stopped because of the pandemic with 189 games remaining of not completing the regular season, which would be done to allow time to award the Stanley Cup.

However, Bettman stressed that it’s among many options being considered. Meanwhile, the number of NHL players testing positive for COVID-19 rose to eight as it was announced a third Colorado Avalanche player is positive. Five Ottawa Senators players also tested positive.
